Public Speaking: National Cancer Survivors Day in Decatur, IL

I had a wonderful day in Decatur, IL at a speaking engagement for the National Cancer Survivor's Day. St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur Memorial Hospital, and Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois sponsored the event and were kind enough to request my presence in sharing in the celebration of life with cancer survivors and their caregivers. I felt honored and privileged to share my personal cancer experience with all those attending.

However, my favorite part of the event was getting the opportunity to be inspired by other survivors' experiences! So many great people chose to come up and share their personal stories with me. Another item that held significant meaning to me, was being able to have my parents, my boyfriend, and the people whom I consider my 2nd family due to their support during my college career at Millikin University, present at the event.

Congratulations to all of the cancer survivors out there (both those having survived treatment and those surviving the cancer experience as caregivers)! What a day to celebrate life! Always remember to stay positive and dream BIG!

Be on the lookout for a wonderful article about the event tomorrow (Monday, June 14) in the Herald & Review Newspaper!
